Preparing Your Home for a Pacific Northwest Winter

MaintenanceMarch 3, 2026· 3 min read

Pacific Northwest winters don't bring much snow, but the relentless rain is tough on homes. A little preparation in the fall goes a long way toward avoiding water damage and emergency repairs.

Start with your roof and gutters. Clear debris, check for damaged or missing shingles, and make sure downspouts carry water well away from your foundation.

Next, look at drainage and grading around the house. Water should always flow away from the foundation, not toward it. Pooling near the house is the leading cause of basement and crawlspace water intrusion.

Finally, seal gaps around windows, doors, and siding. If you do find water damage, don't wait — our 24/7 restoration crew can respond fast to keep a small problem from becoming a big one.
